With Hurricane season only weeks away, the Media is already gearing up for their annual onslaught of anxiety creating hype of how devastating the impact of the inevitable CAT 5 storm will be in the coming months.
The only reason they are not all over it at this early stage is due to their identical treatment (at least here in South Florida) of the "potential" for the leaking oil in the gulf. From one side of the reporter's mouth is the story about Florida minimizing the impact on tourism that oil on our beaches would cause (if it actually were to DIRECTLY wash ashore from the gusher which will not happen in this case) and from the other side of their mouth is the doom and gloom that is happening due to the "oil reaching the Loop Current" in the gulf. They are not even reporting on the opinions of credible experts who suggest that the light film of this naturally occurring "oil" (it is not refined) would evaporate after two weeks on the surface in the Florida Sun. Please don't think that I am not concerned for the environment and what this leak could impact. I do care. I believe that trying to fill the 24 hour news cycle everyday has taken away all objectivity.

Many times Risk Managers have a tremendous influence on an insurers choice of adjusters to handle their exclusive property losses. Often times, choosing a single Adjuster handling the account is a tremendous advantage involving accountability, knowledge of the insured's inner-workings, and an established relationship. Limiting redundant communication involving several different Adjusters is often essentail to daily efficiency. Many companies maintain a national footprint requring claims coordination for all of their various locations.

You may want to reconsider your vulnerability to this contemporary form of bank robbery. Unfortunately, in this form of theft, it is not the bank’s money, it is yours.
